the little sister

oh Ashton. My sweet "second born-second daughter-little sister" Ashton.

sometimes i feel sad about how different your "babyhood" is from your sisters. your quiet smiles and sweet noises often get overshadowed by your big sis's "2-year-oldness". a spanking often trumps rocking and singing, and a play date often trumps your morning nap.

you are so content to watch the world around you and flash ANYONE your adorable full mouth smile. i can already see patience in you. the role that you have as "little sister" is already starting to leave it's mark on your life. your story will always have Avery in it. she will help shape who you are.....it is happening even now, as a 3 month old. God is using Avery to create in you the aspects and character traits that He longs for you to have.

and i get to watch.

Traits like kicking your sister in the head while riding in the backseat! :) I'm sure she didn't mean it.... But when Avery is 6 and Ashton is 4 oh boy, watch out!! I can see the hair pulling now!

Very sweet pictures of your girls, Mandy. All the books say second borns are far more well-adjusted, so parents must be doing something right even without the constant dance of attention. Its Aves and Jack we have to watch...! You are a fabulous mommy to BOTH of your girls, my beautiful friend.
