they are 84, 85 maybe. they've been married for 60 years. 60!
and we had the priveledge of staying with them for a handful of precious, precious days.
grandpa brings grandma coffee in to her EVERY morning.
he works in the garden EVERY day.
he makes yummy bran muffins.
he shaves EVERY day in the late afternoon, right before happy hour (yes...wine and appetizers)
grandma knits hats and blankets and sweaters
she cooks REALLY yummy stuff
she takes care of her neighbors
she reminds grandpa about pretty much everything
they make salsa and zucchini relish
they play cards
they make waffles every saturday morning
they fight and hug and flirt...it's HILARIOUS
it was pretty incredible to get to be a part of their day to day life for the weekend.
they are AMAZING.
their hearts and minds are so STRONG.
they are SO in love.
it's beautiful really.

that is wonderful. you almost made me cry! it is true in the big scope of life what it comes down to is you only have each other and your family to the end right? it's good to take care of each other!
I love that!! I want to be like that some day. I love the idea of having appetizers in the afternoon. I am not a wine drinker. Just give me a cherry coke and I am good. I need to start thinking now about what kinds of things Rick and I will be doing when we are in our 80s.
