giving can be complicated.
we don't want our gift (time, money, resources) to be squandered.
we don't want to enable the reciever.
we don't want to perpetuate the generational problems of a country or nation.
my brother, who has long been in the world of international discipleship, speaks to me all the time of the dignity that needs to be restored to those deepest in the ditch of poverty.
dignity won't just save one life, it could save a nation.
i am in love with this coal project.
-providing a safe way to cook can save 1.9 million lives per year
-creating jobs can restore dignity to Haiti.
how cool that it touches both the now of saving lives and the dignity and hope for the future of many, many Haitians.
check out the hope and dignity on that face.
and putting coal in someone's stocking? how fun is that?
thanks to jody and becky for making it an easy decision to "give coal" this year. two beautiful gifts wrapped in one sooty package.
life.
hope.
