school days

it's funny to think back on all of my high hopes from this post.

we are still chugging along, but the schedule has shifted a bit, we are doing less, but still hitting my highest priorities, so that's good.

our couch time is my favorite.
we're still reading jesus storybook bible, bible prayers for bedtime, and what your preschooler needs to know. we finished both jesus storybook bible and what your preschooler needs to know and just started them both over again.
i cut out the whole colors, shapes, dry erase board thing.  they fought over it.  and ashton knows most of those things anyway...

we do workpages after couch time, but that got paired down quite a bit.
ashton's doing her abeka abc/123
avery does handwriting in abeka k4 and then a couple pages from what your preschooler needs to know activity book1.  we are close to being done with that one, i hope to finish activity book 2 before kindergarten.

and then they play outside and have lunch.
the whole art/science/theme time just wasn't really working out.  we still do those things, but they are spread out and usually related to a holiday of some sort.

and then ian and ash go to bed and avery and i do her 100 easy lessons.
she finished handwriting without tears and we moved her activity book up to workpage time and so we just spend about 30 min on reading and then she either plays by herself quietly or takes a nap.

we had made it to lesson 49 before christmas and took close to two weeks off.  this proved to be pretty rough on the aves when we tried to pick it back up again.  she was frustrated, there were lots of tears and so i just started back on lesson 35.  her confidence shot back up and we are moving quickly through the lessons again.  :)

it was so hard for me to go backwards in the book and do lessons that we had already done, but i'm so glad i did it instead of fighting to keep her at where we were "supposed" to be in my head.

i went to visit a couple of homeschooling programs a few weeks ago and was amazed at the way God spoke so clearly about where little aves is supposed to be.  it was a neat experience and i'm thrilled to feel so confident in this decision.  i walked into RMCA and felt such confirmation, i was tearing up during the little tour and while getting to know the director, carla.  it was surreal to feel such peace about registering her for next fall.  she will be going one full day a week and i will be doing the bulk of her schooling at home.  i can't believe i'm actually doing this.  it feels so strange, but so right.

way to go Mandy!. I am very intimidated by starting next fall with more "focused" school for Kajsa. I need to do more research for sure. If you had to list just one resource as must go too, what would it be??
