There's no place like Iowa for the Holidays

So I've been clawing my way through my to do list ever since we got back from thanksgiving and blogging just keeps getting shoved to the bottom of the list. But you just had to see some pics of all of the crazy fun we had out in Iowa.

Grandma Nancy lugged a 24 pound 18 month old through the Denver and Des Moines airport so that Dave and I could drive straight through, make good time and enjoy each others company and conversation in the car. We were sooooo thankful to her and asked what we could do for her in return. Her answer? Lug a 24 pound turkey out to Iowa in a 5 gallon bucket. Of course we obliged and the bird really was no problem at all on the 11 hour drive.

here we are thawing our turkey in the tub

And here we are prepping our bird for the feast

Apparently it's super fun to have lots and lots of cousins, big cousins, small cousins, boy cousins, girl cousins....cousins are just loads of fun. The 4 big girls spent their time at Grandma and Grandpas motel pool, watching Wall-E, building thanksgiving feasts of their own and of course, getting treats from Grandpa.

The two little guys were cute and cuddly and ate and jumped and slept....oh and they loved having so many people around to hold them.

It snowed a bunch the last night we were there so the next morning, Erin pulled out bin after bin of snow suits, mittens, hats, and boots and we spent an entire morning getting munchkins outfitted and ready to play in the white, fluffy goodness. And boy was it worth it...(there may or may not be a video coming soon)

After reading this blog I see that maybe this was not Avery's snow suit and boots after all?! Sounds like you guys had lots of fun. I was thinking about you guys driving back from Iowa and hoping your drive went ok after all the bad weather!
