picture taken during kayla's shower. that's her momma reading a scripture/prayer over her. here's what she was reading:

God we recognize right now that if Kayla and Luis speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, they are only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If Kayla and Luis have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if they have a faith that can move mountains, but they don’t have love, they are nothing. If Kayla and Luis give all they possess to the poor and surrender their bodies to the flames, but don’t have love, Kayla and Luis will gain nothing. We ask right now that Kayla and Luis will be filled up with Your love and that because of Your love they would be patient with each other; that they would be kind to each other. We ask that Kayla and Luis would not envy, that they would not boast, that they would not be proud. Holy Spirit, step in when they want to be rude, break them free from the desire to please themselves, do not allow them to anger easily, and make them lose track of who’s right and who’s wrong. Show them how to stand against evil while they rejoice in the truth. Father we ask right now that you would prepare the way for Kayla and Luis to always protect, always trust, always hope, and always persevere. -Amen

(i want to tie up tuesday morning, wrap it with a bow and open it every once and a while. i let myself just be with them. there were no worksheets to do, no "preschool activities", no play dates, no laundry (well, there was, but you know, i just pretended there wasn't......i sat with them, i watched them, i played with them while they ran back and forth to get bites of peanut butter toast and strawberries, i yelled "good job" and "yeah, i saw that" in-between sips of my coffee. it was like a movie playing out in front of me. i relished it)
