i think the christian mom culture puts loads of pressure on us to be super woman. cooking and cleaning and education and being productive every last second of naptime. there is a danger there.
we become too satisfied in our productivity.
most of this stems from good, even godly, intention. but there is danger there.
today God spoke through sarah young:
"don't fall into the trap of being constantly on the go. many, many things people do in My Name have no value in My kingdom. to avoid doing meaningless works, stay in continual communication with Me. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you."
-Jesus Calling feb 10th
there is a delicate balance between letting the works of our hands satisfy us and letting our satisfaction in God spur us on to the works of our hands.
there is not one thing off limits from becoming an idol. a clean house, obedient children, a good marriage.....all are susceptible to becoming "foothold" status.
i almost laughed out loud when i read courtney's post this afternoon. seems as though God is at work, pulling the control out of our hands, begging us to trust Him to plan out our day in the way that He sees fit...even if, heaven forbid, the laundry doesn't get folded.
(it's also ironic that her boys are playing with their dollhouse :) )
