raffle items--danielle finzel

danielle is my longest running friend to date.  last year we had a 20 year friendaversary....that's rare and wonderful.  danielle has this amazing knack for knowing people.  and people love her for it.  she asks the right questions, makes jokes at just the right spots and tears up and says "me too" when the vulnerability is too much for anything but listening and camaraderie.  i adore her.

she's offering the book Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist to a raffle winner this year.  what a fantastic book.

from danielle-

Next to Jesus and my family there are few things I love more than dear friends gathered around the table eating delicious food and sharing our hearts. An open door, making a meal, being a safe place for laughter, tears, honesty, wrestling with doubts and fears, sharing joys and celebrating small victories, is what life, vulnerability, and connection is about. Shauna Niequist's book, Bread and Wine, beautifully unwraps the purpose and heart behind hospitality and why it is so necessary for depth and authenticity of relationship...especially in a culture that fights against it at every turn.  Bread and Wine will have you smiling, crying and saying "yes!" to the need for intentional connection that can only happen in the warmth and safety of our homes, gathered around the table.

from the book--

"We don't come to the table to fight or to defend. We don't come to prove or to conquer, to draw lines in the sand or to stir up trouble. We come to the table because our hunger brings us there. We come with a need, with fragility, with an admission of our humanity. The table is the great equalizer, the level playing field many of us have been looking everywhere for. The table is the place where the doing stops, the trying stops, the masks are removed, and we allow ourselves to be nourished, like children. We allow someone else to meet our need. In a world that prides people on not having needs, on going longer and faster, on going without, on powering through, the table is a place of safety and rest and humanity, where we are allowed to be as fragile as we feel."
